For organizations

How to get listed on Cape Breton NOW, and ways to support the project.

Option 1 – Free info card (micro) listing

Every community group can appear in the directory with a simple info card entry: name, street address, short description, contact, and town. This is free.

  • We ask for a suggested contribution of $25, if you’re able.
  • Your listing appears on the Organizations page and can be tagged for activities.
  • You can submit events to the shared calendar.

To request an info card, email: listings@capebreton.now with your organization name, street address, town, short description (1–2 sentences), and public contact info.

Option 2 – Mini-site

For organizations that can invest a little more, we can create a richer mini-site within Cape Breton NOW.

  • Custom page with sections for About, Programs, Contact, and Upcoming Events.
  • Logo or colour header and map embed.
  • Priority placement on the Organizations page.
  • Most mini-sites are supported by an ongoing contribution from the host organization, typically reviewed each year.

To discuss a mini-site, email: minisites@capebreton.now with your name, role, and a short note about your organization.

Events and calendar

  • Any listed organization (info card or mini-site) can submit events for the calendar.
  • Events should be local, meet reasonable community standards, and be open to the public or a clear membership.
  • We’ll eventually provide a simple form or feed; for now, email: events@capebreton.now.

Invite your members to help cover contributions

Many organizations have one or two supporters who are happy to cover the suggested contribution for an info card or a mini-site.

  • Ask board members, volunteers, or alumni if they can sponsor your listing.
  • Individuals can contribute directly while the listing stays in the organization’s name.
  • This keeps participation open even for groups with very limited budgets.

How to become a supporter of Cape Breton NOW

Organizations and individuals can also support the broader project (directory, calendar, maps, and future local news) in ways that treat Cape Breton NOW as shared community infrastructure. Support is an investment in the whole community, not just a single group.

  • Adding an info card contribution or mini-site support contribution when you’re able.
  • Signing on as a “Founding Supporter” with a contribution that helps build the next phase.
  • Helping recruit other groups to participate so the directory reflects the whole island.

Contributions go toward tools that stay local and benefit everyone: better visibility for organizations, clearer information for residents, and a stronger sense of connection across Cape Breton.
